Description

Here are some common questions that I get asked quite often :-)
If you want to do an interview with me with some more specific questions, eg. for a
magazine or a website, this is also no problem, just write me a
mail.

About my products

What platform and operating systems do you support?
At the moment, my plugins are exclusively for Microsoft Windows operating
system, using the Steinberg VST plugin interface.

Do you plan to do any Mac versions of your plugins?
I currently don't have the time and resources to port my plugins to the Mac, especially
since they are coded in Borland Delphi, which does not exist on the Mac. So at the
moment, there will be no Mac versions, sorry folks!

Do you plan to do DirectX versions of your plugins?
No, there are adapters for DX <-> VST, and most programs support VST anyway.

What kind of copy-protection do you use on your plugins?
I am not a friend of complicated and complex protections, as they will be cracked
anyway and are usually a real pain for the legitimate buyer. My shareware plugins
use a simple registration code that is sent by e-mail. This registration code consists
of a registry file with a serial number: just double-click on it in Windows Explorer
on the machine you want to use the plugin - that's it!

Can I use a plugin that I bought from you on different computers (simultaneously)?
Yes, of course! Just use the regcode to the other computer as well and have fun!

About ordering/payment

How do I receive the purchased plugin?
As soon as PayPal notifies me of the purchase, you will receive an e-mail with the
download link for the full versions that is valid for 14 days. If the plugin needs a
registration code, it is also sent by mail.

What about the 'donationware' plugins?
'Donationware' means the plugins are totally unrestricted, but if you find yourself
using them regularly, any donation or other sign of appreciation is certainly welcome
(but not obligatory). There is no 'pro' version of these plugins, I just put lots of time
and effort into this software and if you appreciate that, feel free to donate a small
amount, preferably using
this PayPal link.

What about future updates?
Updates are always free and you will be notified by e-mail as soon as a new version
of a plugin you bought is released.

What about support?
For all the shareware plugins, e-mail support (bug reports, suggestions, problem
solving, help, ...) is free for all customers. The freeware/donationware stuff on my
page is constantly evolving, feel free to provide me with any bugs/ideas as well,
but I can't promise to fix every bug or incorporate every new idea immediately.

About me

Where does the "name" Tobybear come from?

Well, naturally, "Toby" is my first name.
Some years ago, my girl friend once called me "Tobybear" only as a joke, but
somehow that name stayed in my head for a while so I decided to use it :-)

Why do you release so much freeware?
As a student I am always happy to find fully working *legal* free software. I think
that some software is way overpriced and overhyped and lacks functionality that
some free-/shareware programs already offer.
There are some excellent cheap-in-price-rich-in-quality programs out there (in every
category) that can replace more expensive software solutions in many (not in all)
cases.
So what is my motivation? To bring some fair-priced excellent quality plugins out to
the people, to create effects that sound different, to produce unheard sounds, to
react to user wishes and suggestions and further enhance my plugins with features I
would never have thought of by myself.
